Competition Team Update – Summer Training Focus
With IBJJF Gi Worlds behind us, it’s time to shift gears. Our competition team will now focus on no-gi training as we head toward No-Gi Europeans in Rome.
We’ve also made a few small changes to the schedule, including adding a new judo class. Be sure to check the updated schedule so you don’t miss anything.
Over the summer, we’re turning the intensity down a bit. But that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. We’re still training smart and working on key skills to keep the team growing.
One of our main goals is to build strong technique and systems. That’s always been our focus, and it’s helped us a lot. But at the top level, everyone has great technique. What often makes the difference is athleticism.
To help with that, we’re adding basic gymnastics to our warmups in comp class—and also in wrestling and judo. The goal? Build better movement and maybe even some backflips by the end of the off-season.
For jiu-jitsu, our theme is simple: back-hunting. We’re focusing on fast transitions to the back, especially off guard passing. If you see the back—even for a second—connect and take it. Become the kind of grappler who’s always hunting the back and finishing.
